We beg to enclose originals of letters received in reference to the above subject as follows:

1. From owners of the principal steamers running from this country to Hong Kong.

2. Letter from some Fire Insurance Companies, which we could get largely increased if necessary, and from Marine Insurance Companies, certified copies of which we have sent direct to Hong Kong, and we enclose you copy of our letter to the Hon. G.J.M. O'Brien, at that port.

Our Senior, Mr. Alderman Samuel will return to town tomorrow, and would feel obliged if your Lordship or Mr. Sidney Buxton would make an appointment, for the end of this or beginning of next week, to see him in this connection. Our steamers are approaching completion & it is very necessary that our installations should be got ready without delay.
